Experience Hendrix, LLC and ICM Partners have announced a long-term agreement whereby ICM Partners will represent the Hendrix family-owned and managed company in its efforts to produce a feature film chronicling the life story of the legendary Jimi Hendrix. The film will be the very first to be authorized by and have the full cooperation of Experience Hendrix. The company was founded by the late guitarist’s father James “Al” Hendrix and is now helmed by Janie Hendrix, President and CEO and sister of Jimi Hendrix.

The anticipated biopic, unlike previous attempts to tell the Hendrix story, will have access to the full catalog of original Jimi Hendrix music including “Foxey Lady,” “The Wind Cries Mary,” “Purple Haze,” “Voodoo Child,” “Crosstown Traffic,” and scores of other Hendrix signature songs.

Janie Hendrix, currently handling the annual all-star Experience Hendrix tribute concert tour which this year includes Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Zakk Wylde, Bootsy Collins, Dweezil Zappa, members of Los Lobos, Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford and others, commented, “We’re delighted to be associated with ICM Partners on this project that’s been a long time coming. Our concern has always been that any biography of Jimi that employs his music be held to the very highest standard of cinematic excellence. His musical legacy deserves no less. Our partners at ICM are ideal insofar as they completely understand that the use of his music in such a film is a monumental responsibility that will resonate through generations to come as Jimi’s artistry has since the 1960s.”

This Thursday, March 13, Janie Hendrix will be on hand in Austin, TX when the United States Postal Service officially unveils a Jimi Hendrix commemorative postage stamp. That ceremony will be followed by concert honoring Jimi Hendrix that has been curated by Wayne Kramer of the MC5 with scheduled performances by Slash, Perry Ferrell, The Blasters, Robby Krieger of The Doors, Lucinda Williams and others.
